What is Chiropody ? How can it help prevent problems later ?

Over 80% of people will develop foot disorders at some time during their life, older people being particularly prone to such problems. Usually, we tend to ignore our feet until a problem occurs.

The foot is the platform on which the body rests in standing, walking and running. It is designed to cope with all the stresses and strains imposed on it by daily life. The foot is a shock absorber, a mobile adapter and a rigid lever. Caring about our feet from an early age can prevent problems later.

Ill-fitting footwear is the main cause of common foot disorders. Footwear constricts our feet daily and causes many of our muscles to become lax which can lead to foot problems. Shoes and boots should be correctly fitted. Always avoid footwear that is too narrow, too tight or too high.
